Dr. Tiffany North, nationally and internationally experienced in research and educational administration, has joined The Arc of Palm Beach County as Director of Education & Therapeutic Programs, Executive Director Michael Papa announced today.

Dr. North’s career reflects her passion and commitment to children with developmental disabilities and their families.  Beginning as a social worker and vocational trainer for people with developmental disabilities with both the Habilitation Center for the Handicapped in Boca Raton and South Tech in Boynton Beach, she then served as a family consultant and residential consultant for Boys Town in both North and South Florida.  She worked for seven years as a senior systems specialist and contract manager for the Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County, as well as an adjunct professor for Florida Gulf Coast University, Miami Dade Community College and for Lynn University in areas of social services, community health, education and human services.

She holds her PhD in Educational Leadership, an MS in Varying Exceptionalities, and MPS in Health Care Administration, and her BA in Psychology, all from Lynn University, where she now serves on the Advisory Board.

Since 2003, Dr. North has acted as an independent consultant conducting evaluations on learning styles, perceptual motor skills, development assets, multiple intelligences, as well as designing programs for support of educational outcomes both locally and internationally.  At The Arc, she will directly supervise Potentials School, The Arc’s nationally recognized model school for children unable to walk or talk because of developmental disabilities, as well as the Learning Together Center at Gold Coast Community School.  Potentials School serves children ages 3-10 years of age with locations in Riviera Beach and Boca Raton with an intensive integrated therapeutic educational program designed to expedite their full inclusion into their neighborhood schools.  The Learning Together Center is a collaborative effort with the Palm Beach County School District that enables teen-age mothers to continue their education at a local middle school while learning the best practices in infant care in a safe, nurturing and developmentally stimulating environment while their children receive daycare at the same location.

The Arc of Palm Beach County is an independently-funded nonprofit agency dedicated to improving the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families through services, education, and advocacy.  The Arc operates throughout the entire county and supports twelve programs in the areas of disability prevention, respite care, therapeutic education, residential, independent living, job training, recreation and inclusion services.
