Respite
Care Services provide quality in-home care for children and adults
with developmental disabilities, giving families a brief break from
the tremendous demands of caring for a person who is disabled. The
Arc has provided over 16,500 hours of respite to over two hundred
families. Through our emergency respite program, families now have
a resource to turn to in times of crisis, such as a need for immediate
medical attention. Recreation Programs In addition
to supporting Special Olympics, The Arc offers a wide variety of recreation
and leisure opportunities for children and adults with special needs.
The recreation specialists also assist municipalities and other community
organizations so that they may include people with disabilities in
their ongoing recreation programs. This past year, 415 children and
adults participated in The Arc's recreation program. for more information about our recreation, click here Advocacy The
arc works with lawmakers to promote appropriate legislation, operates
a speakersbureau to create community awareness, advocates for the
rights of people who are developmentally disabled, and works to prevent
the incidence of developmental disabilities. The Arc also serves as
an information and referral source for families. Afterschool Inclusion
