Recreation & Leisure Time Programs

The Arc offers a wide variety of leisure time activities for persons with special needs according to ages and ratios. All the children & teen programs offer activities such as instructional classes in tennis, swimming, golf, sailing and bowling. All programs offer crafts, drama, music, learning activities and community field trips.
Children's Programs
Summer Sensations:
Youth ages 6-16 who are profound or severely disabled are offered programs during winter and the summer breaks. This program provides a 1:1 to 1:2 staff to participant ratio. Youth who require this ratio for severe behavioral needs do not qualify.
Schools out Spectacular:
Youth ages 6-16 who have developed their self held skills and who can safely participate with one staff member for every three participants. This day camp program is offered on school days out and the summer. Inclusion options are available during winter, spring and summer breaks. Youth who require this ratio for severe behavioral needs do not qualify.
Teen Adventures:
Teens ages 14- high school who have developed their self help skills and who can safely participate with one staff member for every six participants. This program is offered during winter and summer breaks in a self contained day camp setting.
Teen nights out:
Teens ages 15-high school who have developed their self help skills and who can safely and actively participate with one staff member for every six participants. This program is an inclusion setting which meets on scheduled Friday evenings. This program participates in community activities and outings.
Adult Programs
T.G.I.F. and the Good times Club:
Adults who are 22 or older who can safely and actively participate with one staff member for every ten participants. This program is on scheduled Friday evenings and some Saturdays. The program provides social opportunities to participate in special events, dances, monthly events and community outings.
*Only adults who are visually impaired are offered transportation to and from their home to the programs if they reside within West Palm Beach.
Leisure Alternatives:
Adults ages 22 or older who can safely and actively participate with one staff member for every eight participants. This program is offered two days a week and offers learning activities, cooking, fitness, crafts, community awareness and field trips.
