When the barn doors swung open for Cowboy Ball, guests poured in decked out in their finest boots and ball gowns. The diamond-themed gala celebrated The Arc of Palm Beach County’s 60th anniversary.

The Arc’s signature event took place on Saturday, March 10 at the Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach. Friends and supporters of the nonprofit enjoyed a lavish evening of gourmet dining, swinging music, and a cowboy casino.

The packed ballroom erupted in hoots and hollers as honorary chairs Bobby and Barbara Campbell announced a $250,000 pledge. Calling The Arc his favorite charity, Mr. Campbell said the gift would be his first donation toward expanding The Arc’s center on the Florida Atlantic University Research Park campus.

Mixed in with the merriment, the call to the heart challenged guests to help change the future for children and adults with developmental challenges. Each person that made a donation received a handmade ceramic heart from an artist in The Arc’s Artisan Program.

In July 1958, The Arc of Palm Beach County opened its doors to provide quality services, education, and advocacy for children and adults with developmental disabilities, and their families. Current Open Positions:

Payroll / Accounts Payable Coordinator

Full-Time with Benefits| Pay $20-21/hour

This position is responsible for bi-weekly payroll processing and bi-weekly accounts payable processing. This is a key position in a small accounting department where accuracy and efficiency are a MUST. The successful candidate will have an AS Degree or College Credit Certificate in Accounting with 2 years of recent payroll experience or a High School diploma (or equivalent GED) with 4 years of recent payroll experience. ADP Workforce Now system experience is required. Accounts payable experience is preferred. MIP Fund Accounting experience is desirable. Intermediate or higher proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required. Position requires ability to successfully complete Level II Background Screening and satisfactory completion of pre-employment drug testing is required. The Arc is a Drug Free Workplace.

Respite Caregiver

Per diem positions available at $11.00 per hour. This position requires flexibility to accept assignments that will include a variety of locations, shifts and days of the week. Requirements are High School diploma or equivalent (GED) and minimum of one year experience working in a supervised children's program; CPR; and First Aid certification. A valid Florida Driver's License is required, and vehicle owners must have current auto insurance. Reliable transportation and telephone service for scheduling is necessary. All employees must meet Level II background screening standards, Drug Free Workplace standards and training requirements, and must maintain the ability to meet physical requirements of the position.

Direct Care Providers

Per Diem Opportunities available in several programs working non-traditional and flexible schedules based upon the temporary needs of various programs. Possibilities include a variety of locations, shifts and days of the week at $11.00 per hour. Requirements include: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and a minimum of one (1) year experience working in a medical, nursing, psychiatric, supervised childcare setting or working with persons with developmental disabilities. College or vocational/technical training equal to 30 semester hours, 45 one-quarter hours or 750 classroom hours can substitute for the required experience. A valid Florida Driver's License is required and vehicle owners must have current auto insurance. Reliable transportation and telephone service for scheduling is necessary. All employees must meet Level II background screening standards, training requirements, and must maintain ability to meet physical requirements of the position. Types of per diem assignments include: Respite (in-home care and center based), Residential, Potentials, and Recreation.

Residential Habilitation Coach

Full-time and part-time positions available in a residential setting to provide all aspects of care and support to adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Duties include assisting residents with daily living skills including bathing, dressing and toileting; training toward independent living; medication administration; participating in community outings; meal preparation and household maintenance. Requirements include HS Diploma/GED and a minimum of one year of experience in a medical, psychiatric, nursing or child care setting OR related experience working with persons with disabilities. The position requires a valid Florida Driver's License, current insurance for vehicle owners, ability to successfully complete Level II background screening, ability to meet DOT physical requirements, and maintain the ability to meet all physical requirements of the position.

Residence Supervisor

Full time position is available to manage a licensed group home for individuals with developmental disabilities in West Palm Beach.   This person provides case management and medication management for up to ten adults with developmental disabilities living in an APD licensed group home. Job duties include: taking residents to all medical and dental appointments; scheduling and planning of house activities to promote social integration of residents in the community;  development of resident goals in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team; fiscal management of house budget including billing, shopping for food and program supplies;  oversight of client’s personal accounts; and completion of required reports.  The Residence Supervisor will supervise up to 8 team members including scheduling training, team development and performance. This person reports directly to the Director of Residential Programs.

Minimum requirements:

A minimum of three years’ experience working in a medical, psychiatric, nursing or childcare setting or working with persons who have a developmental disability. A year of college or vocational/technical training can substitute for each year of the required experience.    A valid Class “E” Florida Driver’s license and current insurance for vehicle owners is required.
