Original works of art are springing up just in time for Mother’s Day. Artisans at The Arc of Palm Beach County have designed a colorful bouquet of handmade gifts for mom. The nonprofit, which serves children and adults with developmental disabilities, will host a pop-up shop called Bloom at The Gardens Mall. Bloom will be open Wednesday, May 2 through Sunday, May 13, in the Grand Court on the mall’s lower level.
At Bloom, shoppers can select from floral-inspired tote bags, ornaments, coasters, custom Tervis tumblers, and one-of-a-kind mosaics all created by artists in The Arc’s Artisan Program. You can watch art come to life as artists work inside the pop-up. Bloom also features a flower bar where you can design your own bouquet for mom, a craft area so kids can create handmade gifts, and gift ideas from retailers at The Gardens Mall, including Lilly Pulitzer, Kendra Scott, and Jo Malone London.
“Bloom offers unique gifts for buyers, meanwhile our artisans are learning about retail sales and customer relations. This pop-up promotes independence, and that’s a priceless gift for our clients,” said Kimberly McCarten, president and CEO of The Arc.
Sales from the art at Bloom directly benefit clients in The Arc’s Artisan Program. The artists receive a commission when their work is sold, which enables them to be more independent. The program, which is a part of the nonprofit’s Career Transition Program, teaches clients the basics of marketing, dealing with buyers, and financial transactions.
Shop at Bloom starting on Wednesday, May 2. Hours for the pop-up are Monday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
